Active AWD^ enhances your control on all surfaces and improves fuel economy, so you can venture even further off the beaten track and know you'll make it home safely. Downhill Assist Control* (DAC) and Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) will take the challenge out of steep inclines. The Active Braking with intelligence (AB-i) including Anti-skid Braking System (ABS) will help minimise your stopping distance reducing the change of skidding or loss of control. And Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Traction Control (TRC) will assist you in keeping your cool in tough conditions.
The Active Torque Control AWD^ system enhances your control on all surfaces, giving you grip when you need it by automatically switching from a front wheel to All Wheel Drive (AWD). The result? The dual benefit of excellent traction control and fuel economy. And to ease the challenge of steep climbs or declines, RAV4 comes with Hill Start Assist Control and Downhill Assist Control*.

Remarkably versatile rear seats
Create the seating combo to suit your passenger and cargo needs. The 60/40 split rear seats give you total flexibility. You can slide the seats forwards or backwards - whatever you or your passengers prefer - or even recline them individually. Versatility to take whoever you want and whatever you want, wherever you want to go.
Easy-flat system
Toyota's one touch easy-flat system makes it simple to get extra cargo space when you need it, not to mention easy access. Pull the lever in the rear of the RAV4 and the back seats will fold down flat, totally flat. You don't need to adjust any cushions or headrests, you don't even need to get in and out of the car. Very quick, very easy.
Lots of luggage room and extra hidden storage
For a compact SUV, the RAV4 is big on space with lots of room for you, your mates and your cargo. A new rear suspension design has maximised the cargo space in the RAV4, allowing for a concealed rear storage compartment. Take a closer look and you'll find an extra 80 litre storage compartment hidden beneath the floor - perfect for stashing valuables safely out of sight.

Dual Airbags –Driver and front passenger SRS (Supplementary Restraint System) airbags are standard.
Front-seat Side SRS airbags and Front and Rear Curtain-shield SRS airbags - Cruiser and Cruiser L models deliver all-round airbag protection, with front seat mounted side and front and rear curtain shield airbags. (Available on CV models at additional cost as part of the Enhanced Safety Pack option.)
Safe-T-Cell – Toyota’s revolutionary impact absorbing cabin disperses the impact of collision instead of transferring it to your and your passengers.
Side door anti-intrusion beams – The doors of the All New RAV4 contain side impact beams which help protect you and your passengers if you’re struck from the side by
another vehicle.
Impact absorbing steering column – Because the All New RAV4’s steering column compresses slightly on impact, it helps absorb the force, rather than transferring it to the driver.
Force-limiting seat belts – Pre-tensioner and force-limiter front seat belts automatically retract to hold the occupants snugly during frontal collisions, then reduce tension when they reach a predetermined load, reducing the risk of chest injury.

A choice of engines
With a choice of a 3.5L Dual VVT-i V6 delivering over 200kW of power, or an economical 2.4L VVT-i 4-cylinder engine, you can leave the big smoke far behind and head out to the great outdoors and choose your own adventure.
Vehicle Stability Control and Traction Control
Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Traction Control (TRC) work together for a smoother, safer drive. VSC automatically adjusts the engine output and the brake force of each wheel to counteract under or oversteering when cornering. TRC prevents the wheels from slipping when accelerating in difficult conditions - such as on wet or gravel roads - assisting you in keeping your cool on tough terrain. These are just some of the advanced Driver Assist Technologies you can find in the RAV4.
