6 speaker CD

If you ever get tired of listening to the sweet tune played by the engine, you can always switch on the 6 speaker CD sound system. With superior sound reproduction qualities, GXL & VX models feature a 6 disc in-dash MP3 compatible CD changer with Bluetooth™ hands-free compatibility* and an audio input jack for your iPod® or other MP3 player. GX and Prado Standard feature a Single disc MP3 compatible CD player with audio input jack while Grande models have an AVN system incorporating Satellite Navigation^ and a 4 disc in-dash MP3 compatible CD changer with audio input jack and Bluetooth™ hands-free compatibility*.

These audio systems also feature:

• 40Wx4 amplifier
• AM/FM radio
• Long range FM aerial moulded discreetly into the glass

DVD Satellite Navigation

Always know where you are with pinpoint precision thanks to Prado Grande’s AVN system incorporating Satellite Navigation^. You can plan your journey much faster, and much more accurately. The system was designed for ease-of-use and features:

• Freeway mode
• POI (Point of Interest) searches

^ Current mapping ability encompasses major capital and primary road networks as well as offering some coverage in regional areas.

Fully automatic air conditioner (VX & Grande only)

City, desert, snow, or rainforest, the weather is an ever-changing element. But inside Toyota Prado, you have complete control of the conditions. Simply choose a temperature that suits you, then just set and forget. Prado's auto air-conditioning is controlled by a microcomputer that precisely monitors cabin temperature, allowing you to stay perfectly comfortable under any conditions. What's more, Prado GXL, VX & Grande features dual front temperature zone air-conditioning with rear cooler for occupants in the back. Dual zone climate control air conditioning is available as an option on GX and Prado Standard grades (option pack 2 only).

Advanced ABS Option*

With Prado’s advanced Anti-Skid Braking System (ABS), you can brake with confidence on any surface. That’s because Prado’s ABS goes further than conventional ABS systems. It not only adjusts hydraulic braking pressure to match wheel speed so you can brake quickly without skidding, it also dynamically distributes braking force based on vehicle load (EBD – Electronic Brake-Force Distribution) and helps you apply optimum braking force during an emergency stop (BA – Brake Assist).

Dual airbags standard

Because every model in the Prado range comes standard with driver side and passenger side SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) airbags, you get peace-of-mind without a price-tag. Prado airbags are one of the most advanced airbag systems available, offering you two-stage protection. By monitoring the driver’s position relative to the dash with a sensor on the seat runner, the airbags are deployed at precisely the right speed in the event of a collision. Prado VX and Grande also give you front seat mounted side and front and second row curtain shield airbags (available as options on Prado Standard, GX & GXL).

Traction Control (TRC) and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC)*

Don’t let conditions hinder your performance. Prado features Generation II Traction Control (TRC) which uses sensors to apply the brake to any slipping wheel and deliver more power to the wheels with greater traction, giving you an unrelenting grip on the road under acceleration. Cornering is also covered with Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) sensing oversteer (tail slide) and understeer (nose pushing forward), and managing the power delivered to each wheel.

Rear View Camera gives you increased visibility (Grande only)

Prado Grande includes a Rear View camera so you'll have the 'eyes in the back of your head' which is handy in a host of driving situations, from reverse parking to squeezing into the garage to hooking up the caravan*.

* The Rear View Camera does not provide a comprehensive view of the entire rear area of vehicle and should only be used as an aid for viewing when reversing.

Exclusive Toyota Safe-T-Cell & side door anti-intrusion beams

In the unfortunate event of an accident, you can rely on Prado's cabin integrity thanks to Toyota's exclusive Safe-T-Cell and side door anti-intrusion beams.

• Safe-T-Cell – Toyota's revolutionary impact absorbing cabin distributes the impact of collision instead of transferring it to your and your passengers.
• Side door anti-intrusion beams – Prado's doors contain expanded polypropylene beams which protect you and your passengers if you're struck from the side by another vehicle.
  

Fog lights

In foggy conditions, conventional headlights only make matters worse because their light is simply reflected back into your eyes, further obscuring your vision. Prado lights the way with fog lights mounted within the bumper (all models except GX), so you can safely and easily navigate through early mornings and high passes.

Understated yet muscular

With its LandCruiser heritage, Prado doesn’t need to boast. It has long since established itself as a vehicle perfectly suited to country tracks and multi-lane motorways, ski-fields and muddy creek beds. Its design is simple and functional, yet conveys its authority and commands respect. It features large solid vertical grill, distinctive side steps, body coloured bumpers and door handles, chrome mirrors, 17” alloy rims, 265/65 R17 tyres, and front and rear mudflaps.*

Whether you’re stuck in summer’s stop-start city traffic, or traversing the blazing outback, Prado minimises glare and keeps you cool. With windscreen tint strip, standard front tinting, and ‘privacy glass’ fitted to side and rear windows, you’ll be perfectly comfortable and more than ready to enjoy a safe and pleasant trip.

4.0L V6 VVT-i engine or 3.0L Turbo Diesel

Choose from two hi-tech engines, and know you’re choosing power and LandCruiser reliability every time. The 4.0L V6 (complete with VVT-i Variable Valve Timing with intelligence for consistent power through the rev range) delivers an incredible 179kW of power and 376Nm of torque while the economical 3.0L turbo diesel boasts 96kW of power and 343Nm torque.

Driver Assist Technology (DAT)*

Drive to the conditions – without even thinking about it! Toyota’s revolutionary Driver Assist Technology (DAT) does the thinking for you. DAT gives you an unrelenting grip on the road, greater control, and an unbelievably smooth ride – no matter what the conditions:

• Full-Time 4WD – for sure-footed control in all conditions
  
• Torque Sensing Limited Slip Centre Differential with Lock – automatically shifts power to favour the axle with the best traction
  
• Limited Slip Rear Differential – power goes to the drive wheels with most traction
  
• Downhill Assist Control (DAC) – engine speed and braking automatically managed for better grip and straighter tracking on slippery declines
  
• Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) - Momentarily keeps the vehicle stationary as the driver’s foot moves from the brake to the accl. pedal through the use of ABS and engine control systems
  
• Generation II Traction Control (TRC) – senses when a wheel slips and brakes each wheel independently distributing power to the wheels with the greatest traction
  
• Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) – dampens understeer (loss of front-wheel grip) and oversteer (loss of rear-wheel grip) in order to prevent skidding
  
• ABS brakes with Electronic Brake-Force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA) – automatic management of brake load based on traction, vehicle load, and braking speed.
